Internet Countermeasures (ICM) Program
Counterfeiting operations in China have become extremely sophisticated and less accountable due to an open online marketplace. CISAA deliver industry leading results from investigation to elimination.
Combat illegal Internet trading originating from China
No longer in the realm of low impact catchwords such as 'knock-offs' and 'copies'- the counterfeiting industry rightfully takes its place amongst some of the most insidious and prevailing crimes of the modern world. In terms of commercial value, counterfeiting is now the sum total of almost every other criminal activity; fraud, corruption, terrorism, slavery.
FACT: China is the number one source for export counterfeit goods to the west. Based on seizures alone, the European Commission estimates that China accounts for 60% of all fake goods exported to the EU, whilst US Customs puts China at more than 70%. The Internet plays an increasingly pervasive role in the global distribution of counterfeit goods. Fake goods produced & distributed by illicit China based manufacturers, virtual manufacturers and traders are primarily sourced through the Internet. China is 'Notorious' for advertising fake products through global B2B and B2C sites such as Alibaba, made in China.com and so on.
These are the known 'Western sites' where many Chinese dealers and manufacturers advertise what end up being counterfeit goods. However, there are also many sites where fake goods are displayed and traded, before they end up being exported. Many of these are free, some are subscriber based. All of them are high risk.
WHAT is the ICM Program?
The CIS Australasia ICM (Internet Countermeasures) program is a service offered to IP rights holders who are affected by illegal online advertising originating from China. Based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, (the heart of global counterfeit trading) our research centre analyses domestic and international trade portals, proprietary domains and chat networks, which may illegally display or describe your brands. Importantly, our research is conducted in both English and Chinese, thereby covering hundreds of domestic sites used by counterfeit resellers and distributors. We then test and confirm the infringement through a process developed by CIS Australasia. The infringement is then categorized according to Chinese Law, and the necessary actions are initiated to remove sites and offending materials. This can be done through legal warnings, Cease & Desist actions or other enforcement actions available to us.
