Construction

An Australian based manufacture of steel construction products were subjected to the theft of patent designs and marketing material, which were subsequently used by a competitor business.

In the process of initiating legal proceedings, CISAA devised an undercover plan in which to gain evidence against the offenders. This included the setup of a dummy offshore company through which we were able to penetrate the target and obtain clear & compelling evidence.

The case was finally heard in court and our clients were awarded appropriated damages and costs.

 

Software

We conducted a survey; covering the extent of software piracy throughout Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

The survey included those methods used by offenders to manufacture and distribute pirated software both in-country and cross border, component and other supply information, price structuring, regulatory & enforcement procedures.

The results were utilised by our clients to assist in the implementation of anti-piracy strategies across SE Asia. We do many such surveys.

 

Food

A US based frozen food distributor needed to identify potential customers in Australia and South East Asia. Previous investigations only resulted in general facts and figures and lacked useable intelligence.

CISAA were able to provide the details they needed using a combination of open source inquiries through online trade portals and by doing specific targeted research of shippers and consignees of similar product in the relevant regions.

Our client was subsequently able to identify not only several buyers in South East Asia, but several companies illegally using proprietary information and unauthorised use of trademarks.

 

Mobile Phones

Our client was experiencing a loss of market share and needed to identify new & innovative ways to promote their products.

Part of the strategy was to look at ways in which their most successful competitors were doing business. CISAA identified various competitor strategies such as supplier and marketing information and were instrumental in identifying offshore sales opportunities.

 

Banking

A major commercial trading bank based in Australia and Hong Kong were subjected to serious leaks of proprietary information.

CISAA agents were able to identify electronic listening apparatus called "infinity devises" placed on building telephone riser boards aimed at listening in on boardroom meetings.

 

Entertainment

CISAA were responsible for investigating and taking enforcement actions against dozens of retail outlets. Distributors and optical disc plants throughout; Malaysia & Indonesia, which produced and supplied pirated video games.

Some of these actions were significant "firsts" in these regions.
