The incidents of the illegal manufacture and supply of counterfeit ink & toner products throughout the world is staggering. In Asia alone, there are dozens of large manufacturers, hundreds of smaller manufacturers and many hundreds of "virtual manufacturers" (VMC's) all vying for a share of the world aftermarket. Many of these offer counterfeit product as an alternative to authentic products. Counterfeits are usually a few dollars cheaper than the authentic product because of sub-standard quality control and cross border tax evasion. In turn, this creates a demand for cheaper goods resulting in more illegal operations setting up.
